Hotelroom for De Groene Afslag

This room is inspired by the concept of the Materials Depot, in which buildings and products are seen as temporary storage places for materials. Just as hotel guests check in and out, materials would have their own passport that allows their origin, use, and destination to be tracked. This material passport promotes reuse without loss of quality and aligns with the principles of the circular economy. The hotel room thus becomes a metaphor: a temporary place for people, who will also move on again — just like materials.

The design of the room refers to a warehouse. Made of open structures, visibly and modularly assembled with reused materials. The shelving units evoke the feeling of a depot, but are now intended for people instead of objects. The result is an experience in which, as a guest, you literally become part of a circular system. The hotel room functions as an installation where guests are temporarily stored, only to move on again with new energy and ideas.
