Strak

Cabinet

Strak is the dutch word for tight, and tightness is the only thing which holds the whole together. With this project I tried to build objects using tension as a construction method.

The result is a cabinet inspired by industrial packaging and the circular economy, consisting of standardized, accessible parts. Minimal modifications turn the materials into a cabinet that is easy to assemble and disassemble, fixed solely by lashing straps.

The lashing traps are also used for packaging, with the ambition to ship it without the use of cardboard boxes. Besides its functional properties, the lashing straps also provide a clear insight on the construction, proportion and aesthetic of the product.
